Grandma's Old Bridal Set

You might be hoping to sell Grandma's old bridal set for a lot of money because she always told you it was a really fine diamond and worth a lot of money.  She is partially correct.  This bridal set has a fine quality center diamond, but it is only 1/10 of a carat.  Most people wouldn't buy a center stone this small today.  Most people wouldn't even buy this size for a pair of earrings.  We've become a society of diamond snobs.  Not only has the average size of a center diamond gone up by a factor of 8 to 10 times, but the quality today of our center diamonds are much finer.  I bought this ring for $125.  I will make about $50 by recycling the gold and diamonds.  The side diamonds are 18 facet single cut diamonds and aren't used in the US for jewelry very often.  The single cut diamonds will get sold to a broker and re-sold overseas.  This particular seller attached no sentimental value on their Grandma's ring.  The style itself is very common for the 1950's or 1960's.  I would normally suggest that if a family wants to remember Grandma and want something they could display in their home, this would be a nice piece to display, since it would remind subsequent generations of their Grandma.
